Hi friends,
Dream came true when I acquired a leica M2 over ebay. Ofcourse I feel that the M2 needs a little CLA as the framelines are not that clear..
However, the biggest question I have is about the lens to be bought. i have decided to sell off all my nikon digital gear to buy a leica lens . The best choices I see is the Leica 40mm f2 summicron or Minolta 40mm f2.
However, since the framelines are 35 , 50 on the M2 i am not sure how this would impact my framing..
Please share your experience ..

Many of the 40mm lenses have already been modified to bring up the 35mm frame lines when mounted, which is useful when using one of the more modern M Leicas with the smaller 50 mm frame lines. However, in your case with a Leica M2, the 50mm frame lines do the job quite well and no need to change / modifiy anything.

Personally, I prefer the Minolta M-Rokkor 40/2.0 (CLE version, with SN on the lens barrel) over the 40/2.0 C-Summicron because of the easier to find filters and the standard rangefinder coupling cam.

(The 40/2.0 C-Summicron designed for the Leica CL requires the coupling rangefinder arm in the camera to be located exactly in the middle (top-position) of the mounting flange, a few micrometer off can cause an offset in focus).
