Can you collapse the 50mm summicron v1 into the m10 series? I know my elmar M can be collapsed. If so can you share its rendering on digital and what it looks like on the camera?
 
Not an M10, but I collapse the Summicron into an M240 all the time.

Edge performance can be a bit rough at f/2:

But for portraiture and similar, it's pretty good wide-open:

And, of course, stopped down a bit, there's absolutely no complaints:

(EXIF is saying that's at f/4, which sounds about right)

I should add this is an LTM one that Skyllaney recently cleaned and collimated; the email I got when it was finished said it was one of the cleanest examples he's seen, so I don't think you're going to find an LTM collapsible better than this. I assume the M collapsible has the same optics, just in a different mount?
 
Thanks for the response! It looks like to be a fun lens. I have never owned one. Have owned a few other 50mm. the 50mm DR was amazing but I want one I can focus the full range on my M10m. The ridgid cron is a little more expensive but I also am thinking about it. I love lens character though. One of my favorite lenses to use on the m10m is the Elmar 5cm f3.5.
 
I had one, admittedly back on film with my CL, that was early enough to have the thorium elements. I traded with Sonnar Brian for a Summitar and still think I got the better end of the deal - loved that lens wide open much more than the 'Cron.

Agree. I have a collapsible 'cron, one of the early ones. Also a Summitar.

Both render about the same, or my two do, whichever applies. I prefer the Summitar as it has more character. I was also able to pick up a set of good matched Leitz filters for the 'tar. They slot into the front section of the lens and with the original Leitz hood, the look is truly classic, which I enjoy.

BTW both lenses had to be cleaned. I was gifted the Summicron and bought the Summitar at a mate's rate price. The cleanings cost about half the prices I would have paid from a reputable shop for either. This in Australia where everything has its (too high) price...

If I had to do this again, I would buy a Voigtlander 50 LTM of any vintage I could find. More than two times the quality at less than half the price. But this isn't to say those lenses aren't good, I just think Voigtlanders are far better, especially for color.

The Minolta/Chiyoko Super Rokkor 50/2 is a near clone to the Summitar so renders the same, is cheaper and rarely needs that kind of cleaning. I was pointed at it by Sonnar_Brian when I stared looking for another Summitar and wasn't finding a good one at a sane price.

Exquisite under the radar lens.
 
Just because I wanted a little more explicit examples of what I meant by the look of the OOF areas of the Super Rokkor 50/2, I took these two images the other morning. Both are wide open at ISO 200. 1/180th on the first, focused on the central moss covered rock of the wall. You get a good view of the scene behind the trees. The second at 1/250th was focused on the pine immediately behind that stone to show how it would look in the OOF area. I hope this gives an idea of what I appreciate about this lens.

It was never my favorite lens because I fthought it too low contrast for my tastes. I found it was actually a bad batch of developer. But, by then I'd I sold it in favor of a V3 Summicron M mount and Color-Skopar 50mm LTM mount. Now I sort of miss that look. Scan of silver prints from negatives processed in proper developer:
