A few days ago on the bay I saw this Leica 90 f1, I downloaded the image (I have a collection of camera equipment images, better then buying the stuff!) and then moments later the auction was gone. It was one of the arsenal auctions and I dont recall the price, but the item was gone fast, that or I just cant find it anymore, in fact I cant find arsenal photo on there at all now, I must be looking in the wrong place. Anyho the image sucks, you cant even see the lens markings for the f1 or what mm the lens is, but the action header was clear enough.

A real conversation piece eh?

I remember seeing an auction for this...err...item.

I'm afraid that most "pro" photographers would waste it by stopping it down to f/5.6, you know, with the fascination over "sharpness" and all that...

Yeah, this comes up every so often.

Not RF coupled but M mount for aerial photos. What you see in the front
are rings to use it to focus at different distances (20 and 100m).

Roland.

What kind of aerial photos are you going to be taking at a focusing distance of 20M?!?

Oh, well, maybe they were for a high-speed camera used for weapons testing or such.

Incidentally, we don't know that this lens covered 24x36mm; the M mount may just have been a convenience since it would be an off-the-shelf item for Leica. Lenses of f/1 and even faster aren't all that unusual for smaller formats, such as cine camera use.
