I wanted to by a wider than 40mm lens for my Leica CL, but i read elsewhere that wider angle lenses won't mount properly on the CL because of the rear element of the lens. I was wondering if this applies to the Nokton 35mm. Can anybody help? thanks.

I have used Canon 35mm lenses on the Cl without problem. I would not hesitate putting the 35/1.7 Ultron on it.

The Jupiter-12 in Leica mount, with its huge rear element- would be a problem as it would hit the meter stalk.

I never had any problem with the CL and 35mm lenses (summilux preasph, summarit).
most VC lenses should not be a problem at all, especially the Classic 35/1.4
The only thing I noticed with the f/1.4 VC lenses on the CL, is that the hood masks the finder's window. That means that you cannot focus short range if you are using the hood.
That does not happen with the 35mm Summilux preasph or recent Summarit 35 and 35 Cron asph which suit the CL perfectly :)
