Just to recall the awesomness of the old Elmar.

It was awesome that Leica recreated the Elmar 50/2.8 (to complement the M6J), but be aware that it's quite different from its earlier Elmar namesake. New version: sharper, much higher contrast, short throw focus, cammed focus (aperture ring doesn't rotate), six-blade diaphragm. I chose to stay with the old version for its broad DOF scale (thanks to long-throw focus) and the 15-blade diaphagm. It's nice to see all of the great reviews of this lens. I just picked it up as part of the set with the Leica M6-J...can't wait to start shooting with it.

So, is the older Elmar (m Mount - 60/70s) collapsible with a M9?

Mine (LTM with adapter) collapses fine on the 240, Jon.
