Yep, I wouldn't mind shooting a B&W only body. Too bad the price is a few k more than I can spend on a camera. The price and hype are pretty silly, but the M9M is legitimately interesting. I like the ability to go color or B&W with most files, but the purity of B&W only would be useful for my method of working.
What horrible photos in there (for a product introductory page). The processing looks like they could have been shot on very expired Neopan 1600 which was left in the trunk of the car, then put in the freezer, then loaded on the camera, went out shooting while drinking espresso, cranked up the contrast with coffee developer, scanned with an all-in-one office printer, and cranked up the contrast even more.
Image-wise, they're interesting, but whoever chose these as representative of what this camera should be able to do theoretically couldn't close the gap between gallery curating posturing and salesmanship.
Do you think that whoever makes Olympus' VF-2 makes this EVF (he says rhetorically)?
Cheers,
Jim
While it's interesting - looked at the DPReview samples (thanks for the proper link) - I'm a bit "meh" over it since the files still look flat to me (even the originals). I don't know, it's pretty clear that this, in someway, will relate back to Joe's thread on digital B&W and taking knocks at it 🙂
Cheers,
Dave

They look exactly like analog Sobol photos. What ever Leica thought when they made a contract with Sobol for making the first official photos....
Breaking news:
PRAKTICA has released the all-new "Merkel" edition MTL-3. It features robust alloy construction and a radically new all-analogue photographic system.
The Merkel edition MTL-3 captures photons at the sensor surface without the aid of micro-lenses or anti-aliasing filters. Each exposure is captured on a 'frame' of 'photo film' that measures 24x36mm. Since the MTL-3 only uses batteries to operate the (crude) light meter, the camera itself will function under a variety of challenging conditions without problems. The lack of an LCD screen, menus, GPS, face-recognition, etc. etc. mean the user is free from electronic distractions and can instead devote his or her full attention to capturing the moment.
The Merkel edition MTL-3 also heralds the (re)release of the Pentacon 50mm F1.8 MC lens. This lens is faster, and 95% as sharp as the all-new Leica Summicron-M 50/2 ASPH -- at only 0.001% of the price.
Prices TBA. Delivery date unknown. Contact your local Praktica representative. He's the scolwing fellow in the vinyl trenchcoat and handle-bar mustache with the Leipzig accent.

I guess the new 50 is quite sharp
There is also a video trying to justify the price.
