I have just gotten a lllg to go with my lllf RD ST & I want a case that will compliment the camera (one that could work on either Leica) I would appreciate any & all advice from RFF.
Luigi makes wonderful cases, but with Italian costs, strong Euro, and weak Dollar, they can be quite pricey. I bought a used one for my Canon 7s, love it very much.
I have five Zhou cases and two Luigi cases. In general, Luigi cases use higher quality leather and are more elegant. Zhou cases are well made and more practical. For my IIIF and IIIG, I use Zhou cases and they are perfect fit.
The original Lieica case for the IIIg is very good, and can be found on e-bay or at dealers like KEH.
It will fit the earlier Barnacks II/ III a/b/c/f, as well as the IIIg.
My 1934 Leica III rides around in the bottom half of a IIIg case that I got for $10.
One of the nice things about the IIIg case are the metal strap-rings, which are very positiviely atatched to the case; you can clip a modern strap to them, and not worry about an old leather strap breaking.
