Another test -- I discovered that the rear element of the 400mm lens needed a good wipe. Seems to have improved it!
This is wide open at f/5.6 -- sharpness is pretty good. Second shot is a closeup crop of the first shot.

Oh I'll use all kinds of stuff -- I just got the 400 for a bit of fun, plus I'm feeling a bit sorry for all these neglected Visoflex lenses. Seems to work pretty well!

I thought I was going to have a real time of it working with this 'ancient' telephoto lens system, but....

Works great! I wish I had the shoulder stock to add stability, but I can't seem to track the right one down at the moment (it's the one for the Televit). However, seeing the results that I can get with the 400mm f/5.6 Telyt makes me want to get the 560 f/5.6 Telyt.
The big help with this setup is the Camcraft Z-Housing with the fixed Pellix mirror -- I'm sure I'd had a tougher time of it with a standard Visoflex III with the moving mirror and the release arm. Plus the Televit focusing system is pretty quick to work with -- you push the button on the front of the pistol grip and then you can slide the focus mechanism back and forth (trombone stye) until you get a 'rough' focus, then you use the large thumbwheel on the right side of the pistol grip to fine focus. Truthfully if I used my 80-200 f/2.8 on my D4, it wouldn't be a heck of a lot faster.

One of these nights I will— they’re usually at night. The tent in this one (only images I made of it were with the T/23) was pretty small, for 30-40 people. I think this one was aimed at dragracers and their crews (separate raceway); there were several RVs parked near the dragstrip.
