Much of the personal work I’ve been doing lately has been in our backyard and at our property in Canada. I’m heading back out to New Mexico next week to spend 10 days on a farm near Las Cruces. I have no idea what hey have in store for me!

Robert, this is just at the top of the Berkeley/Orinde hills, so the fog is backed up in the bay and just spilling into Orinde where it's still clearish and just broken clouds.

The best smoked barbecue in Moore County (where I now live) is at the tiny Carthage airport, which gets very little air traffic but daily caravans of BBQ traffic. This was a Friday evening, hours after my M 246 arrived. There’s usually a band in the summer on Fridays, and these guys were it; the second image shows the audience that was *not* on the PiknPig patio. That is a P40 in the background; there’s a memorial to a local flyer who was killed in WWII air combat in China.

The M arrived set on iso5000. I couldn’t figure out how to reset it to a more reasonable 800-1600 for the conditions, which included T-storm clouds lowering over the otherwise bright evening. Thus the fabulous clouds and utterly blown sky in the the second image, and next—which I saved because the children were flying in circles in the grass behind the band. Maybe tomorrow night or next weekend we’ll get lucky with more big cumulonimbus out there, as I now know how to set iso like a rational being.

Vince, I love your backyard noodling. The bokeh level is just right, in that it doesn't distract but complements the subject.

Robert, 50 years on, and the spirit of Woodstock is (just about) alive and well. Love the shot of the audience, and the last image, with the kid whirling up a storm. Enjoy getting to know your new camera - always exciting.

Nice one Rob. Avoiding blown highlights can be an obsession with this camera, but full spectrum to white has always been with us in photography. Works well here.

Cheers, Richard. I was in the middle of setting the camera for just shooting the light, when the waiter appeared with a broom. My time for setup was cut drastically. So, it could have been better - I think the light on the table is just about overblown - but I'm still happy with the result.
