Here's the new directive for the Leica ...

Portrait with DOF control - Nikon + 85/1.4 or 58/1.2...
UV or IR with max. transimission - Nikon + UV-Nikkor ...
World of micro and macro - Nikon + Bellows with MN and UMN ...
Birding at a distance - Nikon + Tele + TC ...

... for everything else, use the Leica 🙂 (pardon the MasterCard pitch)

In a way, the Leica is now my non-specialised, "mundane" camera. It is for documenting every aspects of my photographic journey short of those needing specialised capabilities ...

Just yesterday, I took some shots of a fairly normal affair ... wife's hair-do. I look forward to see the mundane side of my life with the Leica, like work, play and what have I 🙂

Your last choice seems reasonable.

For me, anything longer than 50mm on rf doesn't make sense. Your framing is a miniscule portion of the viewfinder. You have to guess at depth of focus and out of focus patterns. Yes, you can do it! You can brush your teeth with a hair brush, but why?

I love the rf for it's unobtrusive qualties, not worring about alot of the other issues, just looking at the subject and feeling the mood.

Regit -- I like both types of your work a lot, but I like the black and white better from the RF...I just think it has smoother tonality and looks a bit more natural. It may just be because I am used to it, shooting film. One suggestion though. You might consider trying the 75mm focal length for the M. Either a CV or one of the Leica 75s. The 75/1.4 would be similar to the 85/1.4 nikkor you like so much. The reason I suggest it is because the 75mm framelines are still fairly large, and the lens gives you a noticeable telephoto effect and thin depth of field. It is a great portrait length while still being wide enough to be manageable on an RF. Of course, equipment will rarely, if ever, solve artistic problems, but from looking at the gap between your film and DSLR work, it seems like a 75mm lens might go a ways toward bridging the gap.
