Leica M rangefinder patch brightness comparison

I have an 59' M2 with a beautiful deep yellow patch, almost honey colored. Best M I've ever looked through. My 67' M4 on the other hand has a very pale yellow patch that, while reasonably bright, doesn't even come close to the M2. The edges are all solid, and I don't think it's dim enough to be defective. The camera is also extraordinarily clean and was Cla'd a little while ago. The M2 just seems to have a pretty special rangefinder. Anyone else have a similar experience, particularly with the M2 and M4?

Thanks so much

One of the reasons I still own an M2 is the RF. Mine is a button RW and it also has the quietest shutter I have ever heard, outside of a leaf camera.

My M2 i think has been modified because the blue tint is more apparent. As a result the RF patch is contrasty even in difficult dim situations and is a dream to use

I have many Leicas, but have never seen anything that compares to the Cannon VT in the viewfinder/rangefinder. Pure gold look and contrasty
