Leica M2: GAS Sneak Attack!

Yeah, it would be. I'm going to be saving as much as I can in the next few months to buy a Leica before I hit school this fall...while I can still afford it. Hoping to get a second job here shortly. I should be able to afford it then. I'll probably be using what lenses I already have for a while...and then I'll buy my first Summicron. 😛

It only happened to me when I was broke.

I spent money I don't have on this thing, but it's so worth being broke for a while.

Heh. That sounds like me and my CL. Still gotta scrounge about $50 to get the meter in it adjusted, but the chance was too good to pass on.

or maybe...instead of an extra body with a different mount...get some nicer glass, screw mount that can later be used with an m adapter.
i found 2 leica lenses for way less than they normally go for. you can too.

Joe, I've actually had my eye on an Elmar that went for under $70. I was surprised and banging my head against the wall for not scraping together the funds for that one.

I'm staying off Ebay until I get my tax money. When I do, I've made myself some guidelines. The bulk of the money will be used for film/paper/developer/darkroom stuff and I have $100 plus any other money I make that I can spend set aside for new glass/cameras/hardware. I have a feeling that I'm going to be fine with the glass I have for quite some time...I think the main problem is that I will eventually want to move to an M system so that I can get a couple lenses: the 35/1.2 CV Nokton and the rigid Summicron.

The P body isn't going anywhere...that one will be in my kids' hands (when I have them). I just want to move (slowly) into M territory so that I have the option to use M mount lenses.

Course, need and want are different things and we'll see when the time comes. It really isn't just about GAS...it's more about building myself a system that gets lots of use.

Joe: I picked it up at The Camera Store, on 11th ave and 7th street. They've got some nice glass in the used case, but I'm not sure how fabulous the pricing on it is. I think, for the most part, the M2 was just this sudden shining holy grail that I managed to walk in on just after they slashed the price.

I'll post some pictures of the beast tonight.

Nice. Very nice. I just need to get my grubbies on a cheap example of that 40/2... 🙁 fat chance of that! Glad it's in an appreciative home though; can't hope for more than that for a camera.

Just be warned, when it's cold out, you'll be cussing that rewind knob 😀 I got to listen to Brett with his M3 this weekend while I could just crank and then flip open the back 😀 😀 😀

Ahh, I know. Still waiting on my CL! Canada Post have been taking their time getting it to me. It's been in this city since Wednesday night, they just haven't bothered to send it out for delivery. It sucks!

$250 for the 40/2, $250 for the CL, $500 for the M2. I had this Leica kick, and the universe just kind of fed them to me.

You can't buy luck like that.

Maybe it's my karmic tax return on the godawful year I had.
