Leica M4-P serial number

Also Red Dot Camera, in London, doesn't sell external lightmeter for the same reason, they don't seem accurate.

With the MC on the M3 I always shoot at least two stops closer (f5.6 if I read f2.8 for instance) and so far my educated guesses were good...I still have to understand how to properly use this MR because most of the readings for me are completely wrong, the two scales intersect in the wrong place...for instance at this moment it states that in my room with some feeble lamp light I should shoot at f2.8 (red scale) with a shutter speed of 1/250 with a ISO400 film...my educated experience and the sunny 16 rule tells me that in indoor situation with a room enlightned by a 100 Watts bulb I should shoot at f2 (at least) and a 1/60 max with ISO400, or at least I wouldn't dare shooting.

THAT is a nice looking M4-P! I bought a used M4-2 in 1983 and wanted an M4-P but I couldn't afford it. I did pick up the M4-P brochure at the time though. I still have that brochure. Finally earlier this year I picked up a next-to-like-new 1983 vintage M4-P. It only took me 30 years to get mine. 😉

It came with an MR4 also. I've used MR4s in the past, but never cared much for them. I sold mine, the late model winder and the Summicron that came with the camera and they all sold for just about what I paid for the whole kit. Mine has the zinc top plate. IIRC, the logo was stamped (rather than engraved) into the brass top plates on the M4-2 and M4-P and moulded in on the zinc version.
