The 2 lug vs 3 lug question becomes moot when you have a case with an attached strap. I see many good words about (usually) expensive aftermarket half cases, but nowhere is there any love for the OEM Leica case. It's close to indescribable, and has an easy to detach front section. I think I paid something like $20 for a near mint one. I don't mean the execrable Benser case which is always in the way. It's a slightly longer version of the M6 case, I think.

Aesthetically speaking, I personally think 2-lug looks cleaner and simpler thus I like it BUT, I have a 3-lug one and there is a personal reason, which probably won’t not apply for many:
If you wear strap on your right shoulder across the chest, the camera resting on your left side, the strap will too often cover up the viewfinder when you bring the camera up to eye level while hanging vertically. I know the majority of people doesn't wear camera straps this way so it shouldn’t be an issue, but if you do, vertical hanging with 2-lug setup will give you some frustrations when you want a quick action.

Erik, I love the light on the last one!
Great work with the Summaron.
I still need to find time and inspiration to go out shooting in 2017.
Please keep posting and inspiring me.

Hi everyone,
I've just bought a black Leica M5, so I can now join this wonderful club too!
The only M lens i have is a goggled summaron so that's what is attached to it right now. It feels just as wonderful as everyone has described them to be, and may even be better than the M3 I had previously!
