Hi,
Curious to know if anyone has any experience with the cross-compatibility of the M5 rangefinder assembly. I know that sometimes people have replaced the assembly in a given model with one from a different M-model. Is that possible with the M5? Mine has a few wiggles in the patch and while Sherry told me not to be concerned about separation I find it a bit annoying... I'm wondering if I can transplant a donor finder from another model in perhaps?
Thanks!

If you're considering exchanging the entire RF/VF unit, the M5 is a little different as it includes a prism to relay the meter display. You'd need to find another M5 to exchange parts or simply have the problem fixed if really bothering you.

Sherry installed an M6 finder to replace the un-repairable original one in my M5, retaining the meter display.

This is what I had in mind! Thanks for the tip!

Yes, Sherry can replace the M5 rangefinder with an MP rangefinder. I almost had this done a dozen years ago and it was no issue at the time for her to order an MP rangefinder.

My M5 came with 6 framelines when I got it -I am not sure which model it came out of. My guess is the original one had separation.
I wish it had the original framelines so I had the meter spot outlines. - I don't use 28 or 75mm lenses anyway.
