Yesterday, out capturing images with my black Leica M6 TTL and 50 and 90mm Summicrons, I stopped at a nearby Mail Boxes Etc. store to mail a DVD to my sister. I carried the M6 into the store with me because, of course, I dared not leave it in my car. I walked up to the postal clerk at the mail counter, set the M6 on the counter, handed the thirtyish Japanese male mail clerk the mailer containing the DVD, and asked him to weigh it and affix postage to it. Eyeing my M6, he suddenly uttered, "What is that? It is amazingly gorgeous!" I replied, "My camera. It is a film camera." He couldn't and wouldn't take his eyes off of it. "Who makes it?", he then asked. I pointed to the Leica logo on the front of it and I uttered "Leica". "Who are they?", he asked. I said "A camera equipment manufacturer in Germany." "Man, that is a breathtaking beauty with that textured covering on it", he replied. He kept staring and staring, his pupils dilated beyond belief. You'd think I'd pulled a massive diamond out from my pocket!
