does it work ok? If it does I wouldn't try fixing what's not broken.

You should dump it quick. Leica charges an arm and leg for any service.
Since my eyesight isn't very good, I'll give you a $1000 for it and pay the paypal fees.

I think my M3 and MP has this, I truly doubt it is anything to remotely worry about.

On all my M's that have this spring, they all look like yours. The spring is there apparantly to stop the film riding too high and making the film try to jump the sprockets. I edited this info as I've just asked Peter at CRR.
As far as the R lever goes I've had the odd one or two that have been slightly off but they've all worked fine.

On both the M6 and the M7, when reeling In the film, it gets in between the springs and makes a 'clank' sound. Onky difference is the M6 makes a subtle sound, while the sound produced by the M7 is more apparent.
Anyways, I'm sending in the M7 to Leica Singapore to change the DX coder.

The spring no longer bothers me.
Just found out the way we load in the film influences the CLACK sound at the end.
Though am quite bothered by the rewind lever..
Sigh. Having mild OCD sucks.

you can always send it later for service, if it breaks or issues become more obvious.
