I don't doubt the M8 is a very desirable camera and I am thinking of getting one.
The purchase price is £2990, this includes a 1 or 2 year warranty.
Once the warranty is up and the camera breaks down the repair bills could be scarey.
I read somewhere a D-lux 2 broke down and Leica charged 750 Euro.
Second hand values will probably be poor as a buyer will be taking a great risk buying one incase of problems.
Will the M8 be sold as an expensive throw away camera or will Leica stand over this camera and give a 5 year passport like the film cameras?
I think if Leica believes they have an excellent camera they should back it up with an excellent warranty.
My Contax G was 6 months out of warranty and cost me £220 to repair a fault. The Leica M8 body is 4 times the price of the Contax G so I would dread a break down.
