I wouldn't be surprised. They've been doing "Safari" versions of their gear since the 70s afaik.

Now, as await the usual bashing cliches...

...anybody else can confirm this? I mean, on top of Nikon being the machine makers of the gods and all that, yes, does anybody know how they intend to make this a "corrosive resistant" camera?

The vented circular hood looks good on the 28mm Elmarit. Does anyone know whether the new silver finish is going to be made available across the lens line as with the 28mm Summicron?

The rationality is a bit strange here. An M8 is certainly not the first choice for a safari camera, I would say. Coming from somebody who did go on safari with a couple of them...😉
