Leica M9 with two adapters and QBM Zeiss lens?

Will this set-up work, in your opinion?
Zeiss lens in QBM mount plus
EOS lens to QBM adapter
EOS lens to Leica M adapter.

What do you say?

If the set-up actually allows RF focusing and stopped down aperture use, plus infinity focus, it would be an inexpensive way for using fine QBM lenses on Leica M bodies.

So then you would have to scale focus to an estimated distance, or use hyperfocal distance settings. I wonder about tolerance buildup with multiple adapters, though.

The 85/1.4 has a very shallow DoF when wide open. It would not work well with two adapters. It is not worth it. I could use several other lenses in ltm or M mounts.
Andy pointed out an interesting idea for using an EOS adapter with built-in iris to control the aperture. My lens has a broken aperture mechanism, so it is always wide open.

A sony A7 would be great for those QBM lenses :)
The adapter set up as you describe it would work well when focussing with live view.
I agree that scale focussing an 85mm is really not a great option.

Don Goldberg surprised me by asking me to send him the lens so that he can craft new aperture blades for it. I will try to pack up the lens tomorrow.

Dear Raid,

Consider a custom made adapter from SRB-Griturn, http://www.srbfilm.co.uk/ -- I have a Nikon-to-screw adapter (surprisingly inexpensive) which I use with a screw-to-bayonet adapter. I use it only with wide-angles or very, very slow lenses, for obvious reasons.

Cheers,

R.

Hi Roger,
Thank you for the tip.
So you suggest that I ask them about a custom made Rollei QBM lens to Leica adapter?
It would be non RF coupled. My lenses are 35-50-85 in QBM. It could work for the 35mm lens for distance guessing.

Amedeo is currently trying out (again) to adjust a QBM 50 lens with RF coupling to Leica M.
For some reason, he considered in the past only 50mm lenses. Must be the RF issue that dictates this focal length.

If DAG fixes my 85/1.4 aperture problem, and Amedeo creates an M mount 50/1.4 lens for me, then tnis will be a great move forward for my case.
