I recieved my neoprene case in the mail today. I bought it because the leather version was to expensive. The neoprene case seems to be really bad. All the seams are uneven, and it doesnt fit right at all. It doesn't seem to be Leica quality at all. Did I get a bad case or are they just like this. I might have to return it because it just doesn't seem right.

I have it for M8, and I like it a lot. Unlike leather case, it was not designed as a perfect fit . My M8 case can accomodate M8 with any Leica lens, even the huge Noctilux. It was thrown in as a freebie when I purchased M8 from Rich of Photovillage.

Can you post a pic of your case? Does yours seem like a quality product?

I thought $50 was a little steep for a neoprene case. I found a couple of Zing and Optech neoprene cases in my junk trunk that fit my M8. I think I paid $5 for them at a going-out-of-business sale at a camera store.

I use the neoprene case with my M7, and i like it a lot. it doesn't fit tight and allows me to put my camera in and out of my bag easily.

The neoprene case is a very practical one when travelling light. Wrap it around the camera and lens of choice and put it in the general travel bag.

There is two sizes depending on short lens or tele lens. I use the short version.

It is probably made by OpTech as they have the same product in there line.

It was not expensive at all coming from a company like Leica. Less than half the price of a M8 battery.

Of course it is as suited for film M's as for M8.

I was told by local camera shop that the Leica neoprene case is exclusively for the M8, and wont fit the other M series (about hlf an inch too big..).
If you can, please post a pic of it on your camera, would like to see one "in situ"

Leicas site says that it is for all of the Ms. It fits, but it doesn't look classy at all. It looks more like $20 than $50.

What is the leather case like? Does it not fit well in other bags like the neoprene case does?

Of course a leather case is just as fine transportation protection as the neoprene case is.
However the leather case takes up as muck space empty as with a cameras where as the neoprene case can be flattened when empty.

Some of you are missing the point here.
Neoprene is not for when you want something classy to style your camera with. It's a practical accessory for protection.

When i walk around taking photographs i carry the camera without a protection. The case is left behind at my hotel room or in my rucksack.

Re. Neoprene Case

I have the small version for the MP. It isn't high quality but it protects my camera in the rucksack/camera bag when walking/mountaineering and doesn't take up as much space as the leather case.

The case comes off the camera very quickly and is useful if using the handgrip attachment. Really a case of form follows function🙂 .

I've finally managed to get round to posting after watching the site with interest since last year 😀.

I decided that I will keep it since it atleast protects the camera. I found a nice Jansport backpack for $20 that has a comparment at the top, and the neoprene case fits in there nicely.

You could probably find a much nicer neoprene case made by another company like Lowepro.

I have never seen anything in neoprene from LowePro.
What did you have in mind?

I can't say what Ara had in mind from Lowepro, but the neoprene case I use is made by Zing. It's the perfect size for either my CL with 40mm lens or my M3 with collapsed 50/2.8 lens but is very tight for a regular lens such as a rigid Cron. One thing I really like about it is that the strap is completely removable (just unclips) so I can carry this case via its strap with my CL & wrist strap tucked inside or I can remove the Zing strap and use my M3's regular strap to carry the M3 with the Zing case around it. Here's Adorama's listing for it: http://www.adorama.com/ZGAB.html
