Oh, my...is this a beauty or what? It is a Leica O-serie Replica at a well-known dealer.

I have GAS again after seeing this one on sale...if you want it, PM me and I will send you the link!😱

Having to cap the lens to advance the film and recock the shutter would wear thin with me pretty quickly. 😀

Pretty camera though!

When I had one in my hands I was really tempted to buy it, but after learning about having to put the lens cap on between shots made me change my mind....but, wow, it is a sweet camera....

cheers, michael

Yeah, I lusted after one for a while but never landed one.

I was told that they could have been had for $800, a couple years after their launch. I was also told that they recalculated the lens and did it up with modern coatings, and the lens is very very good.

The quirkiness is something, though. Even changing the shutter speed was wierd. If I recall correctly, you half-wind the camera and change the shutter speed (by selecting the slit width) and then finish the advance.

By most in the world, us rangefinder geeks and film camera users, are quirky anyway.😛 The bloody thing is drop-dead gorgeous.

I had one and loved it however for practicality a Leica I, II or III has the same kind of volume and is much easier to use, can change lens and needless to say is much cheaper.

I had the first version which was without the ugly pic of Oscar on the back. Really liked it, Anistigmat lens was great. Slit width and capping of lens let me eventually sell it to a nice gentleman in South America.

Very cool camera, built beautifully.

I love mine and wouldn't be without it. The lens is a gem. The secret is to master a routine to shooting it. Once you have that in mind it's a very swift camera to shoot. Most people are put off by its quirkiness as can be seen in the comments above. That is fair enough but but you chaps are missing out on a unique shooting experience! And if you thought your MP was well made...😉

Check this link for more info and some shots made with the camera:-
