Leica Sales Down 29 Percent

Isn't it about this time when someone with a six figure income jumps into the thread telling us we're a bunch of internet whiners who likely never purchase new gear anyway ... so move on, have a wash and a haircut and get a real job! 😛

$10K for a Noctilux is insane. $6000 for an F1.4 lens is insane.

If the M9 comes out under $7K, and is full-frame, that might save their butts.

Come now Keith, you mean to tell me you don't pick up two copies of every new lens so that you have one to test out, and one for the collection?

Brian,

The skinney has it the new M9 is going for $8000 (USD) and change, sorry.

I reckon if it's a brilliant and nothing less than brilliant camera with no compromises regarding IR issues, reliability etc etc they may just get away with $8000.00

If they miss the mark, as far as I'm concerned 'the fat lady has sung' and it's all over for them!

Of course I may be wrong ... this is just idle internet conjecture after all! 😛

They shouldn't have built a camera that were going to last a lifetime if they wanted people to keep buying them!
Hmmm, this is the reason I keep telling myself that I ought to buy a new MP, over a lifetime it works out quite cheap.
Call it my mid-life crisis. NO Subaru Impreza or Porsche (but maybe collect 8 valve air-cooled Kawasaki GPz 1100's - oh to feel 21 again).
I figured I could buy it, keep it and have it as an heir loom for my son. Is that not a good enough reason to buy one?
Or as they for Philip Patek watches:
“You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation”

It could apply to a Leica....now there's an idea. I will talk myself into a new MP one day.

Steve.

Steve.

Saddam Hussein used to give out Patek Philippe watches as he would randomly visit homes in Iraq. I guess, they are costly.😱
