Am living in Thailand, where the police force has reputation of being notoriously corrupt and ham-handed. And yet I would choose them any time over masked rioter or looter.
Did actions of the Thai police force cause there to be masked rioters and looters?

Not at the moment. If the became that way, I would choose the side of the police any time. They are the only one who stands between me the civilian and the thugs on the streets.

So you have no issue with the cops being the thugs in the streets, killing people resulting in rioting?

Police force is still controlled by other mechanisms in society, whereas anarchy is controlled by ring leaders, and the weakest is always who suffers first.
I don't think "cops being the thugs" is happening. they are hard working people under great stress and danger, and don't earn salaries that will buy them nice sports cars.

Am not trying to downplay or defend things that have happened recently. But corrections must be made within the system. And "police being thugs" generalizations are kind of news preferring to miss.
Huss, I think what he's trying to say is that he doesn't think all cops are bad, but only some.
