Leica swing-out polarizer e39

I was digging through some parts and came across a e39 swing-out polarizer (13352) I forgot I had. The glass has some edge separation.

Does anybody know of a source where I might be able to get a replacement filter to put back into this housing??

Colyn, Kindermann's in Toronto told me they are NFG if there is some separation.....seemed strange to me at the time, you'd think someone would be able to replace the glass.

The glass is cemented into the frame which means it will have to be broken out. If I can find a new glass of the same diameter I could replace it.

I've heard of someone who could replace it but don't remember who..

I did replace it, Colyn, but the original glass was not cemented it
as far as I remember. I think I used a generic 43mm filter glass
as replacement but am not sure now (have to check at home tonight).

After finally getting all of the parts separated I was able to remove the filter and replace it with one from a 48mm polarizing filter.
It was partly screwed together and glued together. To get it unglued I had to soak it in lighter fluid to soften the glue.

Saved myself a bundle by not having to buy another swing-out filter..

I've gone through about 3 of these, seperation is the norm. Guess I was too lazy to just replace the glass but am planing on doing so with a 13351 for Summilux/43. already have the glass out and now just need to find and fit the glass. Going to try and find a B+W filter for it.

BTW: I don't think the swing-out is very popular for what ever reasons, but I've used one for many years for 'drama' in the tropics, protects the front element, adds a shade, and easy to use with the rangefinder.

I had the same problem and just replaced the glass with the glass from a Tiffen 46mm pola I had lying around. It's been working fine for three years now.

The 13352 is great! It clamps onto nearly everything that takes a 39mm filter, including VC lenses. It even clamps onto the front of Canon lenses that take the 40mm filter. It will work just fine with VC wides like the 25 and 21 if you unscrew the sunshade.

what I did many years ago was to take the glass from a Tiffen filter to a local optometrist and have him cut the glass to fit the Leitz polarizer...

I found the glass from either 46mm or 48mm filters will work. The one I replace it with came from a 48mm polarizer..
