Ah, the Minilux was my favorite in the 90s. I used it as my P&S companion to the M6.
Perhaps the minidigilux will be the P&S companion to the M10. (I refuse to refer to it as the M240.)

No major press event planned, right? That means no big deal. X2 (new name probably) with a fast (or fast-ish) fixed zoom. Cool, but nothing irresistible at X2+40% price point.

I remember the Monochrom Rumor thread, and the Monochrom ended up being my dream camera. and it was as if Leica especially designed it for me. LOL. Dreams come true sometimes.
I'm hoping that Leica surprises us again. I say it would be cool to use the FF sensor and liveview for going ultra-wide. For me it would be perfect for using a 21/3.4 Super Elmar and other Leica ultra-wides.
What I really want though is a Monochrome version. I was delusional once before, but I know it is unlikely that another dream come true will happen again.

What annoys me slightly is that after having dismissed Leica as too niche and especially too expensive for years, they come out with the M240, which to all intents and purposes is the camera that fits my needs as a photographer best. Oh, the irony.
That having said, a full frame no rangefinder camera seems like the best bet.

Judging from all the predictions, my only real prediction is that the mini m will disappoint a lot of people.
Most of the predictions made could maybe come true around next photokina, but this is a half assed in-between release in the middle of the launch/roll out of their most important release in a very long while. No way will it be anything major.

I would guess an m-mount X2, in essence. APS-C, uses the external EVF for folks that want it.

Only thing I would be interested in is full frame (same sensor as 240) but with built in evf / no rangefinder mechanism.

Yeah, it's amazing what a hard time they are having keeping up with demand as it is.
To me, that is one of the things that lends support to the idea that this is a rebadged GX2. That would also explain why they are talking a bit now but not releasing many details, since the GX2 is also a few months down the road.
I would love to think that "rebadged" would have some meat on the bones, such as extra technology to facilitate use of M lenses.
I also like the idea that it's an EVF-only full frame M, although I do not see how, from Leica's viewpoint, that helps them. They already have the M240 if you want a "real" Leica, with a big sensor and EVF capability. If a camera like that cost "only" $5000 instead of $7000 or something, I wonder if it really would sell that much more than the M240.

Unlikely to reduce Leica sales overall. With an adequate profit margin at (say) $4000, why would Leica not do it?

Well typ 240 supposedly does everything fujinexsung mirrorless do, plus has a rangefinder, plus a fullframe sensor. Autofocus is irrelevant in enthusiast segment, I met very few NEX owners who actually use NEX system lenses rather than M mount glass or bizarre cine glass from 16mm Boley.
The competitors don't really show much innovation for all their money and bloated R&D depts.
