Leica Zuiko?!

Thanks Chris - I should have known it'd be on CQ! 😉 I'll stick with my rediscovered Om1n too I think, but it's nice to know about the possibility.

Not sure what you need, but the whole range is listed here: http://www.cameraquest.com/adaptnew.htm

Edit: M lenses are designed to be placed closer to the film than slr lenses, which have to leave room for the mirror. Its easy to adapt slr lenses, which "simply" need a spacer, but to put an M lens on on slr will leave it too far away from the film/sensor to focus properly.

It's not impossible - I have mounted LTM lenses onto slr via adapters, but you can't focus further than about 500mm away! Makes a good macro lens!

that's what i thought, well, saving for used m8 may not be a bad idea...

The cost of the OM-M (or other SLR mount) adapters is pretty high, but I might spring for one since I have 21/2, 24/2.8, 28/2.8 Zuikos. I wouldn't buy all those focal lengths in native M mount, rather one, probably 25 or 28. So using the Zuikos I've already purchased (at good prices) to complement a prime M wide, would make sense to me. And if I didn't like the adapter, I'm sure I could sell it without losing too much.

Yes, the lens sizes, even the smallish Zuikos, are larger than RF lenses. The 24 & 28 are quite reasonable in size, but the 21/2 is a bit big. But buying a 21 in RF mount of that speed would be prohibitively expensive for me. I can see a fast super-wide enabling me to make exposures on an RF that I could not get with an SLR body or with a slower (2.8 or 4) RF lens.

OK. I might be sheltered, but I stumbled upon this image - has anyone any experience with a Leitz - Zuiko adapter? See http://www.smugmug.com/keyword/all/zuiko#157017107-L-LB

John,

I was gone for two weeks and just saw this (my photo) today.
Works pretty well with wide angle lenses. You see that I am using
it with the 28/2. But my dream lens to put on is the 21/2.
The Zuiko 28/2 is not much larger than the CV 28/1.9 which is not
much larger than the Summicron 28/2.

And, BTW, the Zuiko 85/2 is smaller than anything comparable in the
RF world ... But I wouldn't use it with the adapter.

The adapter only comes with 50mm frameline trigger.

Roland.

Roland - what a small world! I'm not stalking you I promise! 😉 The the 21/2 would indeed be a nice one to have in the bag.

At the moment I'm using an R3a so could select the 75 or 90 frameline I guess if I mounted the zuiko 85. But I think it will find a nice home on the Om1n or "new" OM4..
