Go for the Leicavit. The motor causes the shutter release to move up and down as it rewinds. I find that distracting.

jshelly I am in the same situation, if you want to call it that. Since I don't particularly want either I will get the Leicavit (more expensive) and sell it to help pay for the new M7 body. If I wanted a hand-winder I would get Tom Abramson's Rapidwinder which is a better product.

I have a winder, and I agree that the shutter release bobbing up and down under my fingertip is an odd feeling. One of the true pleasures of shooting with a Leica is working the film advance mechanism, so that also feels odd—not advancing the film manually. However, I really like the grip it provides. Of course, I could just get a grip 😉 . A-n-y-w-a-y, I'm actually kind of fond of the winder. I use it with my M4-P and it looks great, especially with my Nokton 50/1.5. The winder increases the size of the camera, and it is fairly heavy. That kit (M4-P, Nokton, winder) gave my hand a cramp after an hour of shooting ( I was using a wrist strap).
