Forgot to mention that the serial unmber of my newly aquired Elamr 5cm is 397250, so I'm off to hunt the net now to try and date it

Thanks Brian 397250 makes the lens crica 1937, makes you wonder what images it has camptured in its life

Mick -- Congrats on the lens. Sounds from the date that it's likely to be uncoated. If it's in good shape (glass clean, no haze), it should be a very fine lines for you, as Brian says.
