M2 fan.
Just received my SBOOI yesterday very impressed, great frame lines, one question though at what distance do you used the line made up of brightline dashes for closer framing? thanks in advance for any help 🙂
I've asked that question myself once.
You use the dashed line for framing when focusing at 1 meter.
It's kind of logical when you think about it.
I've read the solid line is used when focusing between infinity and 5 meters.
So when focusing at 2.5m use an imaginary line halfway between the solid and dashed line.

There are a couple of fellows on these boards who are the actual gurus. I'm just having luck with my Google-fu these days 😉
For a true parallax correction, there should be a smaller dotted line on the left of the frame for 1 meter compensation. Maybe the designers thought it would get too messy if they added all these bits in. I have found the SBOOI a bit vague to compose accurately, even though large and brilliant.Whilst on this topic, it doesn't seem that the brightline 'box' is in the ratio 2:3. It seems 'squarer'. Maybe it's something to do with accommodating near and far scenes in the framelines? After all, the 1 metre dotted frameline only appears at the top.

I almost lost mine once - it had almost slipped out of the shoe while the camera was on my strap. I unscrewed the shoe, wrapped the smallest size fishing wire around the screws, replaced the shoe and tied the wire around the finder. It barely shows and isn't elegant but keeps the finder secure. If I lost it I would be hunting another before dark. It adds a whole new and necessary level of usability to my IIIf for my 70 year old eyes.
