Hullo- I've posted this elsewhere, but I guess this is specifically a question about lens conditions; what do you think of this?
The biggest spot is the only visible spot. It's a TLR lens, if this helps....
Many thanks,
Lee

I think it's really nice. The only dust I see seems superficial stuff that you can blow away or take away with a lens cloth. Don't know what the white dot is, I'd like to think it looks like something that could be cleaned off superficially.
Looks good to my eyes, if you could open the back and put it in "bulb" mode and take a picture clean through the whole lens would give a better idea of lens condition.

Most of my classic lenses look like this...or worse.
Yours isn't too shabby for a 40+ yr old lens.
So how do the negs look?

The zeiss planar is a pretty good lens but the lens is compromised obviously. also, looking at the mount, I'd say its a solid user. Stop it down and you should get acceptable images.

Well this is it; I've taken the camera on a bank holiday. I've used a few rolls and put two in for developing, but I won't get them back for a week. I'm sure it's all going to be lovely and fine... I trust the hive mind, and the individual minds, of this forum. I need to buy the camera and relax, but I can't relax until you knowledgable folk tell me that everything is going to be ok.....! No pressure, mind

Only God can tell you everything is going to be ok. To determine the quality of a camera takes more than a foto of the lens. How about its speeds? What cond is the light seal? Does it have the old viewing glass; is it bright, dull? Cond of the leatherette? Overall cond of camera -- beater, user, etc? Price- low, med, high? I understand its about a 50 yr old camera -- having a little more info would help us give you better suggestions.

Actually, it feels like getting a new girlfriend who is beautiful, but a bit odd; you're not in love with her yet. You really like her, but what you perceive as her imperfections are highly visible, and cumulatively give a handy get out clause... Your mate tells you to stop panicking... like 'Hey Jude'. Or something....

My only point is get a good price on the camera. All else being ok, I'm sure you get some good images. Enjoy.

Well it's £450 for a 3.5f Planar Rollei. I think it's £75 to £100 to dear, but then I think everything is. At least.
