I've done a search and can't find a thread which answers this question, so I've had to start a new thread.
Does anyone no know of a metal lens hood suitable for a Tamron 24mm 01BB lens that has (or will have soon) a 55mm UV filter in place?
I've tried googling and I don't really get any suitable answers as many of the links given are for lenses on digital cameras of different formats or are just telling us we should use lens hoods etc.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Try one of the metal accessory (screw in) hoods available on eBay. They are cheap though not necessarily stylish but reasonably effective and being screw fit can be adapted further if needed - you can for example use a 58mm diameter hood by matching it with a 55mm to 58mm stepping ring.

I often search the bins many camera stores have with left over bits and pieces in them. As it happens, I recently turned up a nice Tamron clamp fit hood though it is 62mm and plastic. But it suits one of my lenses well. And metal hoods of various sizes and makes frequently turn up. It is hit and miss of course.

Thanks for the reply and the link peterm1. Unfortunately, the blurb for it says it's "suitable for 35mm and above". I dunno if they mean 40mm, 50mm etc. or degrees of coverage (?) being higher, such as wider than that given by a 35mm lens.
That shows part of the problem I've found so far: a little less clarity than I would like about what focal lengths a hood is suitable for.

I've found a metal hood for my 24mm lnes. It's big and does look a little bit 'silly' but a hood is better than none.

Sean, Please PM me as I may have what you are looking for, if I can lay my hands on it. At one time, I was using the Tamron adaptall 24mm lens on my Nikons and Canon A-1 before I acquired the Nikon and Canon versions of 24mm. I believe I still have the original hood in it's case and box.
If you have interest let me know and we can discuss price. First, I'll have to find it in my misc boxes of equipment.
