Would anyone like to help me find a lens hood for my Vivitar 35ES. It has a 40mm f/1.4 lens and 49mm threads. I dont know if I want vented or not, I'm just looking for some ideas on prices and things. If at all possible, it would be nice if the same hood could be used on my minolta 35-70mm lens too (same threads). Otherwise we're just looking for the 40mm hood.
Thanks for the help.

B+W make good metal hoods in 49mm thread but these are non vented.
See here on the Speedgraphic website (based in the UK but offer International shipping).
standard version

wide-angle version

Another choice might be the hoods made by Heavy Star which can be found on Ebay if you do a search.

When you look into the viewfinder on your Vivitar, do you see the lens barrel at the bottom right corner?
I have a Konica Auto S3, which is said to have a lot in common with Vivitar 35ES. If so, the Vivitar lens barrel would probably also block part of the view, even without any filter/hood...
... then adding a standard lens hood would simply make it worse.
A vented hood would be the best, in my opinion, if you can justify the price.

Yes I can see the lens, so a vented one would probably be best, whre then might I find such a hood?
THanks for the help again.
