Let's be honest - one camera & one lens...?

I"m hoping that this thread was jsut an exercise in naming the most essential/favourite gear you have (1 body, 1 lens) and not a suggestion that one has to actually limit oneself to them. It would be foolish IMO to not include (in my case) a 35 and 90mm lens and even a second body with faster or different film, in the camera bag to go with the one body and 50mm lens. A photo opportunity may present itself that requires a diff focal length, or if the photo opp is an occasion that won't be frequently repeated a backup camera is a good thing to have.

Like I said, an interesting exercise, but why limit yourself?

I think there are two kinds of photographers (well - two extremes at least, I suppose most people fall somewhere in between). Those that want to capture various (interesting/beautiful/poignant/...) things and take all the gear they need for that. And then there are those that only want to capture what fits their vision - I know that for me personally, if it can't be captured with a 24mm it is not worth capturing. If something is too far for a 24mm.. I could use a 50 or a 105 or even longer, but I know that it'll simply be a waste of film cause that photograph will never appeal to me...

(I'm talking only about personal photography here - assingments often require 50 or 85mm's but that's different)

It has to be M6 (or M4-P if I can keep the Weston V and Invercone) and 35 mm Summilux - pre-aspherical (the sharpest lens I've seen).

Perhaps then if no-one was looking, I could also keep the Pentacon Six as a case for the M6 - it would just about fit inside...

In my dreams : MP3 black paint + 'lux 35 asph.
Or (in real life) M6Ti + Nokton 35. Close enough.

Well, it all depends on the assignment - a Dynax 9 + 28-70/2.8 can be pretty efficient too (and no tunnel effect, thanks).

Canon 1DSMk2, 70-200 2.8IS would be the most useful for my preferred shooting style, actually. For a rangefinder... M8 and 50mm 1.4 'lux.

So why don't I have a digital camera anymore? $$$$, that's why 😛

In my dreams...Leica M4 (oh the viewfinder!) 35mm summicron and Tri-x
One I used and loved...Pentax Mx and Pentax 35mm f 2 with Tri-x
One I'm using...contax g1 and 35mm f2 g with agfa apx 100

Really, I'm living on a 1&1 right now: M2 with a 50DR.
I don't think I would change this combo for the world.

Unless somebody cared to give me a real 50's MP in Chrome.

favorite?: Nikon F5 (sorry) and nikkor 50 1.4
current: Canon 5D (d'oh) and canon 50 1.4
If I had 8K extra: M8 and noctilux
I used to just carry my M4 and a fifty (canon 1.2), that was really great, too. All the tmax 400 I could shoot.

Of all the stuff I own now or have owned recently, if I had to get by on one camera and one lens, I suppose it would be the R-D 1 and 50/1.5 Nokton. Not an exciting or controversial choice, I know, but it works for me.

With my limited experience, knowledge, gear, and $$$........I'd choose my trusty FED 3A and Jupiter-3 combo. It would be loaded with Ilford HP5+. I only own F.S.U.'s and I've only tried 3 types of film.😱
