Let's be honest - one camera & one lens...?

But really, as I think more about it, william, this question makes no sense with your restrictions.
I have the GSN and many other stuff because i CAN have all of them, and i like to switch between them once in a while.
If i would be restricted to really have a one-one combo, i would not have the GSN or the 70 y old rolleiflex, i qould have something more versatile like a mamiya 6 or 7 and a 55-ish lens. Or a big zoom, yes. I;m not afraid of zoom lenses anymore.

That´s a question I´ve made myself sometimes...
There are several possible choices because not a single camera/lens combo would allow me to do everything I want.
One possible choice would be any meterless M42 SLR with either Meyer Oreston 50/1.8 or 35/2.8 macro lens, enabling me to focus down to 33 cm.
Another "universal" outfit may be a Contax II / Kiev4 with either coll. CZJ Tessar 50/2.8 or J8, or J12. Needless to say I´ll include a LunaPro.
Film? HP5, Tri X or BW400CN.

Easy choice in the abstract:
Zorki 3m and J-8.
But thank the gods I don't have to make that choice!
Single film choice? I'll need some more time to figure that out. I'll get back to you on that. By October. 2046. I promise.😀

I would have a lot of trouble choosing just one body and one lense. I am most familiar with SLR's so my firdt pick would be my F5 with the 24-120 VR lense. For a range finder I would pick my Contax G1 with the 35mm. Velvia would be the film though I am growing to love HP5.

Rolleiflex 2.8 E2, 80mm Planar is permantley attached ya know 😉
Tri-X

My M's are great cameras and I wouldn't be without one, but day in and day out my TLR's are just amazing cameras to shoot.

One body -one lens would not feel like a limitation to me.
M8 & 50 lux Asph ..... cause there is no M8 yet .. R-D1 & 50 Lux Asph.

Probably the Pentax MX with 50/1.7, though I use my Leica more often these days. Provia 100, for film.
It's funny.
From the day I touched a RF (first it was a Zorki 4K ... now I most use the M2), I couldn't shoot again with my beloved MX, though it's a great SLR. One day I decided to give it to my wife and she's really happy with it.
Best,

If the house was burning down and I had to grab a camera, it would be the Leica IIIf with the Elmar 50 3.5 (together with a handful of Tri-X). Well, even when the house isn't burning down, it's the one I grab anyways! 🙂 It's small and does what it should very well.

It feels rather strange; the camera which everyone says is iffy to load, slow to rewind and hard to use with the split windows, is the one that happily chews through roll after roll...

If I were limited to using only one lens and one body for the rest of my life.....I would stage a coup, shoot the rule maker and make new rules!

ok, how about this, buy a new Bessa R4M and the Tri Elmar M 28-35-50mm

If it is what I have, Bessa R2 and the 28/1.7

For an all-rounder, my choice is the Contax T3. That includes a Sonnar 35/2.8 with modern contrast, flash, and AF in darkness. Film would be Fuji Reporter 800.

Hmmm...

MP3 with 2/50 Summicron DR
(Leicavit)

or

M7 with 1.4/35 Summilux-M ASPH
(Leicavit)

Supposedly the MP3 has the same size 50mm framelines as the M2/M4/M5.
These are bigger and more accurate than those in the M6/M7/MP.

Film would of course be Kodak Tri-X.
🙂

What a great thread !

Well, hands down it would be my Leica IIIf with the pinhole laden shutter. Any 50mm lens that would fit. Film... anything I could get my hands on. Subjects... pretty feet works for me.

I could spend the rest of my life with that combo.

Leica life before pinholes...
