Let's be honest - one camera & one lens...?

From what I currently own: Nikon F100/ 50mm 1.4 (despite the fact I haven't touched it for over a year).
From what I used to own: Nikon FM2/ 50mm 1.4.
From my dreams: XPan II/ 30mm.
I usually only carry one camera and one lens and for the past year or so it's been M4 or M6 with either 21 f4, 35 1.7 or 50 2.0.
I once took a train trip through Austria and Czech Republic with nothing but a Nikon F801 and Vivitar 19mm 3.8. I still ove some of those shots.

Of the cameras I've owned: M3 + 50/2 ZM Planar, or the 50/1.5 ZM Sonnar.

Of course, the dream is MP + 50 'lux.

I can't live with just one camera or lens, impossible!

M6 TTL + DR 50mm + voigtlander ultron 35mm
Canon 20d + 60mm macro + 17-40 f4/L

but I'd upgrade to a 5d in a heart beat, once they flood the used market.. but if I really could only have one camera and lens, probably sell all my gear.. get a 5d + 50mm f1.2/L (hmm.. maybe the 24-70L, ugh.. too many choices)

I'm going to have to go with reagan on this -- my Leica IIIc and an Industar-50. I don't use this combination enough. When ever I get pictures back taken with this lens I'm amazed. I was doing some shooting today and had my 35mm Jupiter 12 on the little Leica. It was just too wide so I put on the I-50. Ahhhh! Sweetness. The I-50 is a little slow and not too fast, it's just right. Or, to misquote a great blues song: "It's built for comfort, it's not built for speed." It's so compact, particularly with a Barnack body and a cute little A36 push on lens hood. What more could you want?

If I must ....

If I must ....

If I really have to decide ... it would actually be easy. The noctilux is a great lens, I love using it at night with TMY at 800 but carrying it around for 3hs + your arm gets a good workout. The 2/75 is really nice but I couldn't do much just using this one and my old 50cron, well it's nice and it was my first lens but the 2/35 asph is just the lens I use most of the time and this would be the one. And between the M6 and the MP is not so much of a difference, so ... MP + 2/35 asph it is in my case. Besides my wife uses the M6 and 2/50 so I don't really have all choices left 😉.

M6 + 50mm summilux. Film would be XP2 or Tri-X. This is a simple and light setup that seems to hide when you are in a crowd.

My Nikon D70s with Tamron 17-50 is great too, just not the setup I would chose if I could only have one FOREVER.

My most used setup would Voigtlander Bessa R2 and Ultron 35mm/1.7 with Ilford XP2. Although I have the Bessa R2A and lenses like Nokton 50mm/1.5 and the Heliar 50mm/2.0, I feel the 35mm focal length and manual RF camera are still the most versatile and natural for RF documentary photography. 🙂

just my minilux is enough with its 40mm summarit, a jewel of a lens it is! And its so light my back thanks me for it///

Come to think of it, I rather have the M3 than the M6 ...plus the rigid Summicron. I was thinking today of the combos I now have ready for use:

IIIc + Canon 28mm/3.5
M3 + 35mm Summicron
M6 + 50mm Summicron
Canon P + Nikkor 85mm/2.0

Life is good.

This is really hard. If I'd had a 35 on an M body (I didn't), I'd probably say that combination.

Of what I have and do own now, it is a very difficult choice between the Olympus 35SP with 42/1.7 and OM-1 with 35/2.8. I think the speed of the SP wins, but man, I love the 35/2.8 and the lovely OM viewfinder.
