Let's see your cameraleather reskinned camera...

Here's my 1959 SS M3 with their black lizard skin. Easy to install, and feels great. This shot was taken a couple of years ago; it's worn in a bit since. I'll see if I can shoot a new picture this weekend to show, but the covering has worn very well. Looks a little smoother now. If anything, it feels even better now.

I have recently bought a second hand MP and I am quite deceived by the poor handling quality of the original covering... especially compared to the high grip feeling of the M2/M3s...
Any advice? How nice leather covering handles? Any leatherette alternatives?
(I mean but the griptac of course...)?
Thanks

I can recommend the Aki-Asahi "Pebble Emboss" no. 4034 from Japan. It costs only $18,-- and it takes only 20 minutes to put it on the MP. Looks simply great. They give a very prompt service. It's very easy to put it on your camera. It gives a fine grip and it looks much better than the slippery, cheap original covering.

He even let me mix and match the colours 🙂

I think that once you remove the original leather you're devaluing the camera from a collector point of view whether you replace it with standard black or red snake skin. From a user point of view it's going to depend on the buyer.. personally I'd pay MORE for a wicked looking camera... but then again I'm debating which of mine will get an overhaul first 🙂
