What I find disturbing is actual the size of the M8/9 over the film M's.

yes, they have to be bigger. just compare the thickness of film + the backdoor to sensor and display. they even made the bayonet thicker a few millimeters to keep the body "small".
but i am very happy not to be into digital at all and to use all the elegant film Ms. 🙂

Took this photo the other day when I briefly toyed with the idea of selling my M6 and 35 cron ASPH before I came to my senses!
The body cap is an aftermarket one as I lost the original somewhere in India.

Locus, I am glad to hear that you have regained your senses in keeping your lovely gear. I am sure many people here can relate to selling gear in a whimsical brain explosion in a past life. I sold 2 Gibson guitars to finance a wedding, reception and moneyhoon years ago..... such flirting with reality is deathly. Soldier on regardless and keep your gear.
