Let's see your Leica M

The hood, like on all the ZMs is actually of a bayonet type. Line up the white dot on the hood with the black aperture line on the lens and a quick twist - click. The hood fits over the lens' threads, so a filter and/or cap remain attached to the lens.

If you have a 46mm screw-in hood, it would work just fine with the lens and the provided cap. Not sure about the Ultron...

I think it may not quite fit the Ultron. It's a screw-in type of hood. I have been searching for a square hood screw-in type, as the default hood (with and without filter) makes the lens cap impossible to remove in a hurry.

Check out a video camera hood, I think they make a 46mm. Sacrilege maybe but they a rectangle and have a full hood.

Ducky: I did check those out. They look ugly as hell. :)
DN: Yeah, I am looking a those hoods. I need one in 40.5mm as well. Personally, I like the square hoods with a vent. :)

Here is my M3. Definite user condition which is just fine with me. I believe it to be a '55 Dual stroke with older speed settings (1,2,5,10....). Has a '58 50/2 Summicron DR mounted on it. I do not have the eyes for it. Works great and this thread has inspired me to load it up and shoot it tomorrow :)

Aha, I recognise the black duck tape, thats similar to how my m2 was looking like last year, before i recovered in griptac, which is pretty good.

Yup, it actually looks ok to me. My slow speeds are starting to get a little sticky and I think a CLA is in order. If so I might entertain a recover as well. I am all thumbs and do not think I could do it myself. I am guessing this could get expensive though :(

No way, I sent my other M3 to Youxin in October. The Griptac kit cost me $24. Youxin applied it to my camera for as low as $15. The cost of CLA is I think about $120 plus cost of parts if necessary (my camera needed quite some), though the price could have changed since then.
I have a similar DS model with older speed settings and DR Cron and now it's my favorite Leica by far.

Finally one to call my own

Finally one to call my own

I've been reading this posting for a while dreaming of getting an M6 for myself. Here is my addition to our family.

I'm loving the Leica M7:angel:. I'm so glad I decided on the M7, which for me is the ultimate Leica for timed exposure at night. I'm really loving the aperture priority and the ability to lock the exposure and recompose as well as getting a true 1/1000 of a second. Just a great camera.
