Let's see your Leica M

That is luigi essential strap from leicatime.com or ebay.

The key feature is the absence of metal ring means no wear and tear on the strap lug.

Aside from some photos I took of a CMP M1 Garand, the two photos of my friend with my M4 are almost my most-viewed photos.

Flickr lesson learned: pretty girls get hits.

It's these days a year with me. Was not coddled ... had to get out to the field and bring in the harvest ... :D

Elmar-M 50mm on Leica M6 by mandoflex, on Flickr

Not a new camera, but the combination is new.

I found this sweet new-old-stock Elmar-M 50mm in Photografica, Copenhagen. I am a irrationally attracted to lenses of the 4 element Tessar family (although Leica would probably claim this lens to be a derivate of their Anastigmats and Elmax).
The lens was in production from 1994 to 2007. I don't think it was produced in large numbers because I rarely see them in the many 2nd hand shops of Tokyo. Although respectfully mentioned here and there, I do not see many people rave about the lens on the net, thus it's lack of availability is not due to some internet hype.
I went into Photografica to ask for availability and pricing of a used sample, was surprisingly told that they had a couple of new available. It was priced at the 2007 list price, and with DK sales tax (25%) removed and the benefit of the strong yen, the price came down on the irresistible voigtlander level and I had to get it.

Wow, sounds like a bargain! I gladly would have gotten one as well, to make the triple of collapsible 50mm to choose from.

Man, you guys and gals have some really nice gear.....I am jealous.........I own 3 Leicas...an m3 that is mint-, and m6ttl that is heavily used but not banged up and then I have this m2 that happens to have lots of nicks and dings in it........

This ding on the back door happened while I was at a concert, I went to photograph my favorite Thai singer (Da Endorphine) and for the first 3 songs all I did was shoot lots of photos and stayed away from the booze.....after those 3 songs.....I slung the camera around my shoulder and hit the booze and started to rock and roll....at some point, the camera must of bumped into something......oh well......I am going to put a new roll in it tomorrow and test it out....I plan on bringing it to Myanmar with me soon, I hope it's ok......

this ding was already there when I bought the camera

and so was this name and serial number engraved on to it......

I bought this camera (M2) and a 50mm rigid from a very cool member here (MikeL) for 750USD a couple of years ago in San Francisco......I always wanted an m2 and it is a perfect "user" camera for me........I prefer it over my m3 because of the 35mm frame lines......but if I did happen to do some damage to it (I'll know soon), then the m3 comes with me to Myanmar as a back up to my m6ttl........

I treat my cameras with great care and respect, and I never want to ding them up on purpose, but I guess that is just the way it goes when you use them and carry them every day with you.......

cheers, michael

Hi Michael,

If there is a light leak, temporarily swap the M3/2 back doors.

Regards,
Robert
