Nice!
Someone took care to remove all white paint out of the engravings!
Most 990XXX black paint M2's lack a selftimer, but yours has it.
The silver 35mm Summicron and Summaron lenses look great on those brassed black paint M2's.
Erik.
Hi Erik, that's interesting, is there some sort of documentation as to how these cameras were outfitted? The 990539 serial puts it in the second batch of M2 black paints from 1960, a total of 250 cameras.
The paint really bubbled on this one, I don't know if someone actually removed the white, or if it just wore off. I like it this way...
I got the 35/2 Summicron along with this camera, from a newspaper photog in the Dallas area. To me it's the perfect lens…the epitome of late 50s/early 60s mechanical perfection, not too big or heavy. And of course wonderful optics.
New purchase Robert? Looks very nice indeed.
It is very nice, it was rough when I first got it a couple of months ago but DAG put some of his magic in it and it's really as good as new in terms of optically and mechanically. Super smooth, and viewfinder is just as clean and clear and bright as a brand new MP.
The one mentioned in Mike Johnston's blog ? It looks great !
Yes it is the same…the auction was linked on his blog…quite to my surprise...
I came across another kit with a black paint M4 (arriving today) so I put the M2 up for sale. Unfortunately the buyer from Japan flaked, I never heard squat from him. But as of last night, its new home is going to be Taiwan…
The camera came with a matching brassed black paint Leicameter MR4, which I just got restored by Quality Light Metric. I'll take a photo and post it along with the camera.

... likes film again.
The 8 element 35/2.0 is something special, indeed a best fit for any BP M2 or M4

... a very nice black paint M4 indeed.
And black paint 28 Elmarit.
Yes, it is deeeep, version 1. Reminds me of a 21/3.4 rear element. Can't use it with CL or M5.

Thanks Jan for the warning. I am just not able to find one to buy.
Hopefully the rewind lever will not fall anytime soon.

PM me your address and I will mail you one.
Helen, what is the effect of sticking M3 goggles on an M4? Doesn't that make it something like a 25-28mm view?
It is quite ingenious; it selects 50mm frames and widens the viewing angle to 35mm on any M. A factor of 0.7x works no matter the original viewfinder mag (0.9 of the M3, 0.72 of the M4, etc.)

To Light & Love ...
Thanks,
is it correct then that because its an M3 googled version
The 50 framelines are BIGGER / like the 50 framelines in the M3
Even though my VF is an M4 version, when i look through my VF , the 50 'LOOKS' way bigger to my Eye than when i put a standard 50 lens
Or am I hallucinating ...J
Oh hey Taskoni ... pleased you Appreciate 'Miss Plain Jane'...
