Yesterday was my birthday and I gifted myself with a Leica M6TTL 0.85. It arrived yesterday and oh my, what a beauty she is!!!

I got it from a reputable seller with warranty and it was offered as condition A-B (very good-good), but it looks as if had never been used.

The lens should arrive within the next few days also, a collapsible Summicron 2/50 mm. I can't wait to start using it!!

So here she is:

some lucky birthday people!
all beautiful, enjoy!
may the light be special, your exposures true.

Who repainted it?

I actually did the repaint myself over the summer. This camera was a summer project for me. Wanted to buy a beat up M3, strip the chrome off and paint it black. Hoping the paint sticks after all the hours I put into it. So far I'm happy with the results.

Very nice! I'd love to do this at some point as well. Did you do everything yourself (stripping of chrome) or have a local shop do it?

It was definitely a rewarding experience in the end, but definitely stressful at times. I stripped the chrome and nickle by myself. Was too chicken to use chemicals (didn't want to depose of the waste) so I decided to go the hard route and went with 800 grit > 1000 grit > 1500 grit wetsand and some elbow grease to remove the chrome (this does take hours... even for the smallest piece).

Only thing I can't and won't do by myself is a CLA. Luckily it doesn't absolutely need one atm.

Looks great I think! I hope it will last a long time and wear nicely.

Edit: Ok here's a photo of what I am using at the moment, my friend's M3 and the Summicron pre-asph which I received last week.
