Let's see your Leica M

I'm actually giving some thought to picking up an M7 myself. I'm no collector, I use my cameras and to me the M7 is the most "practical" for daily use.

Though I literally JUST acquired my everest M4-P and I still have my "not-that-pretty" but nicely upgraded '58 M2. I'd have to sell off both to purchase an M7. I love seeing everyone's cameras though. They all have different stories.

This is my M2 Helen, the first M2 I painted, stripped, painted again then again......
I don't use the M's much now as I prefer the F6 for film.

Beautiful! I am considering doing the same with my M2. May I ask why repaint was needed several times?

And if you would share what kind of paint you used for filling in the Leica script, shutter dial numbers etc.

Thanks...! 🙂

It was my second repaint, the first was an M4. They both needed redoing as the paint just flaked and rubbed off with a fingernail. It took a while but I eventually settled on military paint given to me by a friend in UK but if you are in the US then any baking gun paint should work too. White inlay done with acrylic paint stick.
Not to put you off but it used to take me 50-60 hours to do one properly and get a finish I was happy with. Ive not done any this summer due to time restraints but I've got some new paint that matches the original finish of the later M2, 3's and 4's so if I get time I may do a final one. I'm still tempted to build an M23 which was the replica original MP done by a japanese guy a few years ago.

A few I've done for myself here,
