Here's my current film M (I recently sold my M2). It's the M4-P everest which I picked up here. It's not the most collectable of M bodies, but it's definitely one of the most usable 😉.
Pretty happy with it so far, plus it's in fantastic condition for being an early model. (Hopefully it doesn't stay that way for long!)
And to be honest, the tape is just on there because I didn't care of the abundance of branding on the camera. I also happened to like just the Everest logo, makes it visually interesting. It'll probably all peel off after a few months anyways.
Usage brassing is near impossible to replicate as it's so irregular. This looks like it's been aged a little. The problem with ageing a repaint is that the brass underneath is always too bright and shiny for the age of the camera that's usually painted ie m2,3 and 4's.
I've only ever seen 2 lenses painted that looked original and they were done by an ex Wetlar employee.
This still looks nice though.
People, don't "brass" your rig with sandpaper or a nail file. We can tell. Brass it by using the hell out of it. By product: you might become a great photographer.
