What film does that M-E take?![]()
That's not really fair. The thread was created before the M8 existed. And then moved into the film camera forum later.

I know - I was around back then too - I was just joking a bit with the man ... hence the

Nice, I like to see an M6 here now and then!
I just bought another early M6, the pull is strong! I like my M2 and M4 but I do miss a meter and I think out of all M's the M6 is the best all rounder. It came with a ZM 50 planar to match up with my biogon C 35 so I'm looking forward to seeing some results.
My 7th M6 I think, I keep returning

You should try the M6TTL... The bigger shutter speed dial make all the difference.
IMO the best all round M camera.
The M7 is great but the electronic shutter timing may be a long term Achilles heal.

That lens looks huuuuuuge, but congrats on the find in any case ;-)Crazy night in Bangkok , I lost that little rubber plug on my M6ttl (under the film advance lever) and then somehow I ended up with 2 Leica SL's..... I guess you win some and lose some.
Cheers, michael
Very pretty! This is my user 50mm as well, love the lens but I sometimes wished, Leica would have gone the whole distance and removed the useless lens hood along the way as well (nice to have but most of the time it's just sitting there and doing nothing).Since 7 years in use.
…
When the M-E was out new I didn't like the battleship grey color but the more I see these, the more I like it. I finally get how it can be a really nice looking M.Bought a brand new Leica M-E for $3300, love it!

A thesis will work nicely on that patina ;-)Mine isn't quite that impressive yet... I'm writing a thesis next year, so hopefully it'll get there![]()
Keep the pen and use it - they usually die hard and just keep getting prettier each year of use.

Wow. What a thread, it took me about 6 months to get to the end!
So many wonderful M's - so much drool!
Here is my humble addition - unfortunately the lens + finder are an xmas present so they go under the tree until xmas. I did sneak in a few "test" shots though.
M6 + 21 SA.

Thanks for the tip!
Does the shutter speed work with fingers too?
It's bumped into a few things over the years. I suspect at least once with some force as the shaft is a bit bent. Makes it a bit tricky to use sometimes, hence the teeth.

Peter,
my first M Leica was an M6ttl. I bought it very soon after joining here in 2006. I shot my Himalaya set from my photo site with that camera and an aspheric 35mm Summicron. Previous to this I'd been using R4's and R8 slr's. I don't really have a preferance anymore, it just seems like more M6's came my way rather than ttl's

heh, that bent rewind shaft could be making your film advance a little tough. should be an easy enough DIY to straighten it out.
enjoy !

Jeez,
I want another M3 so bad...
I miss the smaller, lighter feel of a film M that my M8 just doesn't accommodate.
But then again... I do not miss loading rolls onto spools for developing...
