The M2 has always been my favorite...along with a superb CLA'd 50 f2 DR Summicron.

I think you're suffocating your MP with all the protective casing and band-aids
Let it breathe!
Love the clean look though.

Can someone educate me why so many people gasp when they see this combo? That's a chrome M4-P made in Canada and an M4 made in Wetzlar, right? They are beautiful, don't get me wrong, but not exactly exotic cameras, unless I am missing something here?

Yes, the lenses are both special. The M2 version of the Summilux 35mm "steel rim" is rare, although it is very unclair how rare. Can anybody shine some light on that?
The Summicron 35mm v4 in chrome is made in Germany. Most of these lenses are black and are made in Canada.

i just thought they look good side by side (the camera on the right is an M2 btw), they display some canadian and some german heritage, are similar but still all different. although the plain M4-P brasstop in chrome and 'non-anniversary' is quite very rarely seen nowdays, anniversaries, or zinc-top chrome are more common.
for the summilux V1 i remember i read somewhere that approx. 1700-1900 chrome steel rim lenses (M2 type) exist (will double check when i find the source), M2-style and black mantled steel-rim type even less 80-100 pcs or so. most steel-rim v1 were M3 type with goggles.
the chrome V4 summicron was only made in a lower 4digit quantity during the nineties as far as i remember.

Whammo!
Just arrived, my "accidental" M5 purchase. Just after I said I didn't need two film Ms, now I have two film Ms again (and a digital! Help me!).
Looking forward to using the beast.

Congrats on the M5. I know the feeling.
Thanks! It was one of those "I'm definitely not going to win with this bid" moments on eBay. I expected it to be in considerably more worn condition based on the photos and description, but I was pleasantly surprised at how easily it cleaned up. May need a CLA, not sure yet, but I'm going to shoot a few rolls through it to test it out.
At least it will for sure get used.

This funny looking camera just got here.
So weird looking. So impractical. And I love that. I shall call him the Pale Man (Pan's Labyrinth reference).

Yes, it's really funny yet beautiful in its own twisted way. I get startled a little every time this thing gets in my view because I guess I'm so used to seeing regular Ms. It's a different feeling from RF-less Barnacks or RF window blocked-ff M1. This simply throws you off a little and I love it. Maybe someone's gonna ask me on the street "is that Fuji X-E2??"
