Let's see your Leica M

My everyday walk around kit. Two Leica M6 classics, on the left a 1985 Wetzlar and on the right is what I call my 'M6-P' 1995 non Wetzlar. The Konica 50mm is a main stay in my bag but the 35 is sometimes swapped out in favor of the Zeiss 35mm f2.8. The Konica 35mm f2 is a great lens but it's heavy which is why you see the grip on that body.

I have had the 1995 one longer and put much more film through it, thus the better patina around the edges. I know many people prefer the black paint, and I certainly do as well, but the black chrome cameras do have a unique look when the chrome starts to show some wear. It turns almost like a gun metal grey that no other Leica bodies can get.

On the 'M6-P' I removed the Leica M6 white paint myself and had DAG put the black dot on and re-wrapped it with an Aki-Asahi wrap.

DJ, Which Aki-Asahi wrap did you use? I'm keen to replace the covering on my MP....

That's the 4008 wrap. When I first ordered it I wasn't sure how I would like it but after using it for over a year now, it's so much nicer than the original. The texture is a little more 'squishy' I guess you could say. It makes gripping the body a little easier; I have seriously considered changing the wrap on my Wetzlar M6 for that reason.

Yeah, regripped my M8 with that one as well. So much better.

Just picked up this beautiful 1963 M2 in very clean condition.
It has a few minor marks in the usual places, but overall in very good condition.

I think this might be a keeper 🙂

Now if I could only give it a bath or two in some chemistry it might be the orange peel of my more recent alcohol induced dreams 🙂

Yep, great book. Another great one is Jim Marshall, Proof. Similar concept to Contact Sheets but with less explanation, plus there's the Leica wet dream bag shot inside front cover 🙂
 
Yes, both good books. If you like looking at contact sheets you'll also like the Robert Frank Looking In (extended edition) which shows the contact sheets for all the photos chosen for The Americans.

but this arrived this morning, I always wanted a leitz finder. this is the 35mm. despite the rubberised viewfinder i'm still a little tight on the camera's 35mm frame with my glasses, i've stuck some foam to the back for now, I'll do a tidier job again but now I can see the whole frame clearly. It has a few dings but works well and was cheaper than most others I saw.
