Let's see your Leica M

Last night I tried my old Russian collapsible 50 for size and man it makes the whole package nice and compact!!

But today my new (ish) lens arrived, the "everyday" lens for my M4-2 a Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 Skopar. I'm looking forward to seeing how this performs over the weekend.

Nice pair!

As was clearly explained previously in the other thread (and on the website) chrome and nickel are stripped to the brass.

As was clearly explained in the other thread, the top plate in the listing had only the edges free of nickel.
I'd like to see pictures of numbered top plates before I accept it's done properly. No big deal, just show a before and after picture.

The ebay listing in question clearly states "The camera got stripped and got the silver chrome AND nickel plating removed. The camera will brass over time of usage."

How exactly are you coming to the conclusion that only the 'edges are free of nickel?' You appear to be mistaking highlights in the photograph for missing paint.

Seriously don't understand why you seem to think Alan is lying about his work, enough to post multiple times about it. If he were to defraud his customers by not stripping the nickel it would become self-evident!

As for a top plate before photo of the camera I posted above, here you go.

Yeah, no indication the seller is lying, but let's just assume so, in spite of other evidence and reports from known entities. :)

It makes no sense for Alan to lie, and it would make even less sense for an ebay seller to claim the camera will brass if the photographs in the ad showed nickel. Nickel is also not bright like the obvious highlights in the photos.

these are the pictures which started my curiosity,

Are you seriously trying to tell me that the stripped top plate pics are back to brass?!
You can clearly see a patch of brass coming through on the pic of the back where a thumb would rest.
These 2 pics are what started the first discussion we had however now that I see your top plate I agree it's back to brass. The one in the ad is most definately not.

I have to agree why would you show the top plate with all the nickel still showing even if the next step was to strip the rest off.

Likely because that's the photos that he had available, there is nothing in the listing that states that every single step of the process has been showcased via photos. The text states things unequivocally. Again, it makes no sense to take a default position that a well-known service provider is lying to their customers, when such a lie would become self-evident.

In any event this is now fully resolved even though one would think my testimony as a repeat customer would have been sufficient without having to provide a top plate photo.

judging by the amount of testimony you give i'd think you were on a commission ;)
what happened to restoration35?

Judging by the quantity and urgency of your posts one would think you're a competitor. :)

I was simply responding to your continuing allegations after I posted the latest M3 project.

Posted information on forums will get disseminated far and wide, which means its important to be accurate. There are lenses, for example, that have developed unfair reputations based on overly zealous posters. This is unfortunate for some people will cross such a lens of their list, perhaps missing out on something with which they would be quite happy. Unfounded accusations should be addressed, and I'm simply a happy customer, having sent gear to the UK back in August and again in January, painting a total of six cameras (M4, M3, IIIc, and three sets Canonet top/bottom plates.)

I haven't myself worked on any paint projects in many years.

I couldn't agree more hence my request for accurate information.
I no longer paint so no I'm not a competitor however having seen some repaints done over nickel, some good, some bad, feel that it's nice for others to get full disclosure on what they are getting.

Less talk, more M's

Here's my latest addition. M4 wearing a 35mm summilux pre-asph with a custom tab.

Easily my favourite M.

This is me 25 years ago with my M2 (I stuck the leica red spot on , total noob fanboy) I sold it a few years later to buy equipment I needed for other types of photography work.

These are the shots I took with it, I found them yesterday, pictured with my new M4-2
