Received my 1958 button rewind M2 back from DAG a few weeks ago (no more light leaks).

Beautiful combo Helen.

After trying a different digital camera system I quickly decided it wasn't for me and came back to the M10 platform, this time with a P to join my M-A.

What am I missing here? Why does your M2 have a battery compartment?

It looks like a clever way to cover up the self timer hole.

I need answers too lol, is that a chrome MP-3 with an M2 top plate?

Bill will confirm I’m sure but if memory serves that’s actually an M6 with an M2 top plate and a chrome Leicavit.

I don't think so, a plain M2 doesn't have a guard around the lens release button.

That's all I can think of, although the strap lugs are wrong from an MP-3

Abram is correct. It's one of the many FrankenLeicas I've put together over the years. The one herein above is an M6 fitted with an M2 topcover.
Actually - I find the parts and Don Goldberg ("DAG") puts it all together for me. It's no small task converting an M6 chassis to take an M3/2 "post" style rewind mechanism.

That's very cool. Am I mistaken or is that not an original M2 shutter dial? The meter slot looks fractionally skinnier than mine...

Incredible work! You've got some rad one of a kind bodies.

The parts, including the counter, accessory shoe, and shutterspeed dial (in this particular case) were all provided by DAG. The shutter speed dial was probably brand new from Leica. That's very cool. Wish I could say I still had these. I sold them off one-by-one as I quit using film. Currently, my only film camera is a "like new" Leica CL (with a 40mm Nokton f/1.4 SC lens), which - to date - I've actually never shot a roll of film through. I might shoot a roll of film once every other year! Maybe!!Incredible work! You've got some rad one of a kind bodies.
