Let's see your Leica M

Very late M3 (note the missing lens release button shroud, more typical of M4s) finished in titanium ceramic coating, white-on-black frame counter, self timer release button and lens release button also finished in titanium. Finished to owner preference to mimic the M6 Ti. The owner will send it off to their favorite tech for a full CLA and leatherette. The leatherette will be custom cut due to the missing lens release button shroud.

We're serial number buddies! Terrific that you've had yours for that long. I bet you paid less for it than I did mine. 🙂 It's in really good shape, though. Having a lot of fun with it.
Very dependable, went around the world, had the flash contacts updated, had the leatherette replaced had the shutter repaired once (Golden Touch), still using original collapsible 50 Summicron.

I was offered a black M4 by my local Leica dealer around that time in Calgary. Already had a pair of chrome M4’s and several other cameras so passed up the opportunity. One of my M4’s by the information on Camera Quest site was an ELC camera (E. Leitz Canada). I think early on that they were assembling German parts as both cameras are marked Wetzlar. Seem to recall that the price I paid in 1969 was similar and included a 50mm Summicron.

With the insane prices black Leicas are going for I would be paranoid about getting mugged while using it. Looks like you’re using it, best stay out of dark back alleys.
The “s” probably stands for Swartz, German for black.
